Art Explosion Studios, the city’s largest artist collective, is holding its annual Spring Open Studios in the Mission District.

Come see over 100 artists as they open their studios to exhibit their work. Painters, sculptures, photographers, fashion designers and jewelers will be showing, so there will be something for every type of art connoisseur.

The free opening reception gala will be on Friday, March 29th from 7-10 pm. Do not miss this opportunity to get a first look at all the incredible work that will be on display and enjoy a spectacular night out viewing art.

Come meet the artists in their studios and get a personal showing of their art. In addition to artists opening their studios, the galleries will be filled with hundreds of art works to peruse. On Saturday and Sunday, they will have open studios from 12-5 pm. As always, admission is free and there’s plentiful street parking.

Each San Francisco neighborhood (defined by zipcode) can visit the California Academy of Sciences for free over a three-day weekend (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) in the spring and fall of each year.

So that means as long as you have a driver’s license or other proof of residency, you can save yourself $35.95 and visit the museum for free. Read the full rules.

The Rules: Each visiting adult must show a valid photo ID with proof of residency (you may not bring out of town guests for free; they still have to pay). Visiting adults are limited to six children for free entry.

The current EV chargers in use at Madrone have become obsolete as of April, 2019 due to Chargepoint’s decommissioning of 2G networked charging stations and will need to be replaced. At the last board meeting held on 02/27/19, the board approved the recommendation submitted by the EV Charger Replacement Committee with an implementation plan in two phases at no cost to the HOA and homeowners by taking advantage of a PG&E grant and guarantees issued by Powerflex:

1.    Phase 1: Immediate replacement of current eleven Chargepoint stations by Powerflex. The planned cutover date is Tuesday, 03/26/19.

2.    Phase 2: Installation of approximately 150+ EV charge stations to make EV charging available to most residents, subject to the physical limitations of the building and the approval of an energy grant from PG&E. We have been working diligently with PG&E and Powerflex, and hope to start this project later this year or in early 2020 at the latest, as soon as the PG&E grant is obtained. This is very exciting news, especially to current and/or future EV owners.

Residents who are currently assigned to a parking space with Chargepoint chargers will be contacted directly with detailed information on how to use the new PowerFlex units.
