If edible architecture is your thing, San Francisco is your mecca. At the Fairmont, you’ll find a two-story, 22-foot-by-23-foot gingerbread house constructed from 7,500 gingerbread bricks. And at the Westin St. Francis, two sugar models — a 12-foot-tall Enchanted Castle and a dreamy French chateau — will be on display in the lobby, next to a pop-up candy store.

Fairmont San Francisco, 950 Mason St between Sacramento and California Sts (415-772-5000, fairmont.com/San Francisco). Nov 26–Jan 1. The Westin St. Francis, 335 Powell St between Post and Geary Sts (415-397-7000, westinstfrancis.com). Nov 23–Jan 2.

Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) annual evening fundraiser to bring help and hope to those affected by cancer. Co-workers, friends, and families form walk teams to raise vital funds for blood cancer research and local patient services. Walkers symbolically light the dark world of cancer by carrying illuminated lanterns: white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold for those walking in memory of a loved one. These unique evening walks are marked by celebration, remembrance and hope.
