Hello, Mission Bay:
Tomorrow, there will be a drill to test responses in case of an emergency. The exact time is not known.
The Fire Dept and SFMTA will be working with other City emergency responders to test communications, coordination and access to the area.
There is a Giants home game tomorrow at 12:45pm which may be letting out at about the same time as the emergency drill.
Please allow for extra time and flexibility for your commute tomorrow, as traffic will most certainly be impacted.
Thank you.

ACCESS TO CHANNEL STREET AND 4TH STREET BRIDGE
Local access is ALLOWED for all residents on Channel Street and Third Street. Please check in with parking control officers should you require local access. Please note, access may be delayed due to traffic conditions and to obey all traffic directions from parking control officers onsite.
4th Street Bridge is open and access across the bridge is generally available throughout the Third Street Bridge closure. Please note that during Peak Commute Hours (M-F 7 AM to 10 AM and 3 PM to 7 PM), at the discretion of parking control officers and SFPD, access may be temporarily restricted to clear congested traffic through the area and to allow trains through. Vehicles will be redirected to alternative detour routes. We STRONGLY encourage drivers to use detour route #4 (16th St > 7th St > Townsend St > 3rd St) during peak commute hours for northbound travel.
BERRY STREET BIKE LANE
To accommodate rerouted bicycle traffic, SFMTA has temporarily installed a protected westbound bicycle lane along the north side curb of Berry Street between 3rd and 4th streets. The temporary bike lane will remain in place between full closure periods. Parking spaces along Berry Street have been shifted to be adjacent to the temporary bike lane. Some parking spaces adjacent to driveways are temporarily unavailable to help improve visibility. Please DO NOT park or pull into the bicycle lane or crosshatched area at any time and utilize designated loading and unloading zones and parking spaces adjacent to the bike lane as needed. Trash dumpsters may be put in the parking spaces (not in the bike lane or crosshatched area) for collection as normal.

Additional construction details and project information are available on the project web page at www.sfpublicworks.org/thirdstreetbridge

Happy 4th Of July From Mission Bay Parks

| Neighborhood Transportation and Parking Survey As part of an on-going research project, last fall, the SFMTA Curb Management Group conducted interviews with you and other property managers in the South of Market, Mission Bay and Dogpatch neighborhoods to obtain information about onsite parking at your facility. Thank you again for helping us gather this important information. The next phase of the project is to survey neighborhood residents and this summer, the SFMTA will be mailing a short survey to residents in your buildings. The purpose of the survey is to gather information about residents’ typical travel and parking patterns. This information will help the SFMTA better prepare for future demand on the transportation system due to population and job growth. Below and attached, is a description of the study we are conducting and its purpose. If you have any questions about the study or the survey, please contact Kathie Studwell, program manager, at 415-701-5708 or Kathryn.Studwell@sfmta.com. Background By 2040, the City of San Francisco’s population will increase by nearly 100,000 people. Much of this growth will occur in the City’s eastern neigh orhoods: South of Market, Mission Bay and Dogpatch. To prepare for anticipated impacts on the City’s transportation system, the SFMTA’s Parking and Curb Management Group has embarked on a study of residents’ travel and parking patterns. Most of the anticipated growth will be in the form of large, mixed-use buildings (residential + commercial). The SFMTA will be surveying residents currently living in multi-family buildings similar to those planned or under construction. The survey results will generate information about residents’ travel modes (transit, car share, walk, bike, etc.), vehicle ownership, and vehicle parking. Responses to the survey will help SFMTA estimate the future demand for transportation infrastructure, such as car-share services, bike lanes, on-street parking and pedestrian loading zones generated by population and job growth. In addition, the SFMTA would like to better understand whether parking availability in residential areas affects ownership and use of personal vehicles. Towards that end, the survey will provide information that could assist the SFMTA in determining the best approach to implementing best practices in parking management in areas impacted by significant new housing development. Results of the survey will be posted on the project website in late summer or fall. |
