Turn ‘em loose!
The new Channel Street Dog Park is now open. Bounded by Channel, El Dorado, and Long Bridge streets, the new park sits directly across from the popular Mission Bay Kid’s Park.

Room to run added by popular demand

This great addition to Mission Bay responds to requests from residents and visitors to add public spaces for Fido to fetch, roll and relax.

More than just a place for your best friend

The new dog play area includes a ton of tail-wagging amenities:

  • |  Double gated entry + fenced-in area to keep your pets safe and allow them to run free
  • |  Eco-friendly turf that’s permeable, so when a dog has to go, it seeps through the turf
  • |  Automatic sprinklers + a robust irrigation system to keep the turf clean
  • |  Regular cleaning by Mission Bay Parks staff
  • |  Lots of seating for humans
  • |  Water fountains for humans and dogs
  • |  Lighting, waste receptacles, and doggie waste bags
  • |  Landscaping + trees circling the park

The new Channel Street Dog Park and the existing dog park at the northwestern edge of Mission Creek Park at Berry Street are both open every day until 10 p.m.Woof!

Emergency Drill 7.24.19

Hello, Mission Bay:

Tomorrow, there will be a drill to test responses in case of an emergency.  The exact time is not known.

The Fire Dept and SFMTA will be working with other City emergency responders to test communications, coordination and access to the area.

There is a Giants home game tomorrow at 12:45pm which may be letting out at about the same time as the emergency drill.

Please allow for extra time and flexibility for your commute tomorrow, as traffic will most certainly be impacted.

Thank you.

Wendy Silvani

PS:    The Third St. Bridge shuts down again on Thursday, so once again, expect delays throughout Mission Bay.

Third Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project Construction Update

July 17, 2019

Greetings Third Street Community Member,

View the latest construction updates and information for the Third Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

Thank you for your continued patience during the first round of full bridge closures between July 5-17.

Access across Third Street Bridge will be reopened starting at 6 AM on Thursday, July 18. Please note, travel lanes have been adjusted for the next phase of rehabilitation activity. Vehicle and bicycle access across the bridge will be available via one northbound and one southbound traffic lane. Pedestrians will have access to a sidewalk on the east side of the bridge.

The next round of full bridge closures will occur between July 25 through August 5. Bridge closure preparation activity will begin the evening of July 24, 2019. Access across the Third Street Bridge will be restricted for all vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic.

Additional temporary Full bridge closures will be in effect between the following dates**

July 25 to August 5, 2019 (^Marathon participant access across Third Street Bridge will be available during the SF Marathon on July 28, 2019. Access across the bridge is anticipated to be reopened the afternoon of 7/5/19)

August 15 to August 23, 2019

• Additional dates in September and October to be announced.**

(**Please note: Anticipated closure dates are subject to change. Additional periods of temporary full bridge closures may occur in September and October 2019, as necessary, to complete remaining rehabilitation work. Information will be shared closer to that period once additional closures details are finalized.) Every effort will be made by the contractor to minimize construction related noise impacts during nighttime work, but please note that general construction related noise from the use of, including, but not limited to; heavy equipment such as forklifts, generators and manual hammering, is to be expected.

SUGGESTED VEHICLE, BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN DETOUR ROUTES:

• Pedestrian Detour

• Bicycle Detour

• Local Access Detour

• Vehicle Detour

ACCESS TO CHANNEL STREET AND 4TH STREET BRIDGE

Local access is ALLOWED for all residents on Channel Street and Third Street. Please check in with parking control officers should you require local access. Please note, access may be delayed due to traffic conditions and to obey all traffic directions from parking control officers onsite.

4th Street Bridge is open and access across the bridge is generally available throughout the Third Street Bridge closure. Please note that during Peak Commute Hours (M-F 7 AM to 10 AM and 3 PM to 7 PM), at the discretion of parking control officers and SFPD, access may be temporarily restricted to clear congested traffic through the area and to allow trains through. Vehicles will be redirected to alternative detour routes. We STRONGLY encourage drivers to use detour route #4 (16th St > 7th St > Townsend St > 3rd St) during peak commute hours for northbound travel.

BERRY STREET BIKE LANE

To accommodate rerouted bicycle traffic, SFMTA has temporarily installed a protected westbound bicycle lane along the north side curb of Berry Street between 3rd and 4th streets. The temporary bike lane will remain in place between full closure periods. Parking spaces along Berry Street have been shifted to be adjacent to the temporary bike lane. Some parking spaces adjacent to driveways are temporarily unavailable to help improve visibility. Please DO NOT park or pull into the bicycle lane or crosshatched area at any time and utilize designated loading and unloading zones and parking spaces adjacent to the bike lane as needed. Trash dumpsters may be put in the parking spaces (not in the bike lane or crosshatched area) for collection as normal.

Additional construction details and project information are available on the project web page at www.sfpublicworks.org/thirdstreetbridge
