Get ready for a vibrant cultural explosion! The 51st Annual Nihonmachi Street Fair is coming to San Francisco’s Japantown on August 2nd & 3rd, 2025! Join us for an unforgettable weekend celebrating the rich traditions and dazzling diversity of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. Stay tuned for exciting updates as we prepare to bring the spirit of Jtown to life!

51st Annual Nihonmachi Street Fair
Saturday & Sunday, August 2-3, 2025 | 11:00am – 6:00pm* (2025 times TBA)
Japantown, San Francisco, CA (Post Street between Laguna and Fillmore Streets and along Osaka Way)
Free and open to the public

The streets of Japantown will not only be filled with conversations and great music, but you’ll also be able to see close-up fabulous Vintage Japanese & European Cars and Muscle Cars from back in the day. Our communities car enthusiasts will bring out their treasures to share with Fair attendees. A great way to ask car enthusiast questions about their treasured vintage cars and learn more about these classics.

Doggie World – Saturday & Sunday

San Francisco is frequently cited as one of America’s most pet-friendly cities, especially dogs. It’s a city with family and dog friendly experiences…and where dogs out number children. We welcome you to our 13th Annual Doggie World.

At this year’s 51st Annual Nihonmachi Street Fair’s Doggie World, will again be a special gathering place for the four-legged members of our community to join in on the fun. Local animal experts, adoption agencies. and vet professionals will be in attendance to offer tips and information. Highlights from past year’s Doggie World: Pet Vendors, Rescues and Adoptions, Ask the Dogtor, wagbags, Pet Portraits and much more!

We’re excited to bring back the Nihonmachi Street Fair’s Doggie World Pageant this year! Pageant will take place on the Our Community Our Pride Stage on Sunday, August 3rd from 2pm – 4pm.

SF’s Brand New 100-Foot Sea Serpent Opening Party + Mermaid Parade (Golden Gate Park)

Originally created for Burning Man 2024, Naga & The Captainess is a 100-foot-long, 25-foot-tall serpent made of over 5,000 shimmering scales and lit from within. Installed in the weirdly green water of Rainbow Falls Pond (yes! There is a man-made waterfall) near JFK Promenade about 700 feet east of Transervse Drive on San Francisco’s Golden Mile.

The whimsical sculpture is set to become the largest public art piece in the history of the park.

The project is a collaboration between local artists Cjay Roughgarden, Stephanie Shipman, and Jacquelyn Scott, with support from arts nonprofit Illuminate, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, and a crew of over 250 volunteers. On occasion, Naga even blows bubbles from his nose – just in case he wasn’t magical enough.

More than just a sculpture, Naga is the first part of a larger immersive experience still in progress. Plans include a sculptural shipwreck seating area, interactive treasure chests, and a watery street mural meant to inspire connection and play.

The Bay’s Huge “626 Night Market” (July 25-27)

Inspired by the famous open-air nighttime bazaars of Asia, this iconic Californian festival, named after the 626 area code region of San Gabriel Valley, northeast of Los Angeles, features 200+ food, merchandise, crafts, arts, games, music, and entertainment attractions in an epic event that appeals to all ages.

Alameda County Fairgrounds does not allow pets except service animals – it is up to their discretion at the gate to allow your furry friends in.
