All Day Music In North Beach – Live Music Celebration

Saturday, September 23  | 10am – 11:30pm

Venues throughout North Beach

Celebrating San Francisco, the culture of its North Beach neighborhood, and most of all — LIVE music! The mix of music brings together seasoned pros with decades of performing chops and some Bay Area up-and-coming innovators and genre-remakers. Throw in some sweet reggae, jazz from three directions, excellent rock cover bands, lion and dragon dancing and it’s an all-ages treat sprinkled from Jackson to Chestnut Streets. An hour of sound bath at Glow Yoga is available for those who are ready to deeply chill or maybe just tune up their ears before heading out for the rest of the shows.

Our headliner — Goodnight, Texas — will be here in the midst of their U.S. tour. Our shindig is their stop between a massive fest in Redondo Beach the night before (opening for Jack Johnson), and their show at the Austin City Limits fest in October.

Tickets are on sale now at universe.com/alldaymusic. Ages 12+ are $45. Ages up to 11 are free. Ticket holders will redeem their tickets for wristbands at Club Fugazi (678 Green Street) to get into all the indoor All Day venues on September 23rd, 2023.

Musicians will be performing from morning until night at cafes, clubs and other spots all through North Beach. Many styles of music and performance are included… chances are you’ll find many to enjoy! Also you’ll enjoy the venues, some of the best listening rooms, clubs, and bars for live music in Northern California; The Lost Church, Lyon & Swan (supper club), Club Fugazi, The Savoy Tivoli, Piazza Pellegrini (also renowned for its Italian food), Libreria Pino (also renowned for its selection of Italian books), and Vesuvio Cafe (across Kerouac Alley from City Lights Bookstore — two neighboring North Beach icons).

Visit the All Day Music website and Instagram to for more info.

Ticket pricing:

  • Ages 12+ = $45.00 for all-day admission to the indoor venues of the festival with wristband
  • Up to Age 11 = Free admission to the indoor venues of the festival with wristband
  • Purchases of three $45 tickets have the bundle option to save 11% ($5 off each of the three tickets)

About Sunset Piano
Mauro ffortissimo and Dean Mermell together launched Sunset Piano in 2013 when ffortissimo covertly rolled an old grand piano onto the bluffs over Half Moon Bay. As word spread through social media, the crowds grew way beyond the occasional dog walker. Thousands came to hear the music before the county ordered the piano removed. Since then, Sunset Piano has expanded this impromptu musical and social experiment, temporarily placing pianos in a wide variety of unexpected natural and urban settings around the Bay Area every year, from the top of Montara Mountain to Market Street. Flower Piano, a collaboration with San Francisco Botanical Garden, is Sunset Piano’s largest and most ambitious undertaking. Mermell’s documentary about Sunset Piano is entitled Twelve Pianos.

CALL 911 OR 311? SAN FRANCISCO OFFICIALS EXPLAIN HOW TO CALL FOR HELP

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Some San Francisco residents are feeling fed up with a perceived lack of response from police and paramedics for handling street safety incidents.

In response to frustrations expressed from residents and merchants, the city is launching a new education campaign to help the public know who to call, and who will be dispatched to the scene for a behavioral health crisis.

For many incidents, even if you call 911, police officers will not respond. Instead, the city’s specialized street response teams will respond to help the person in crisis.Mayor: ‘Homeless coalition has held SF hostage for a decade’

The Coordinated Street Response Program is “focused on helping the public understand what to do when they see someone experiencing a behavioral health crisis on the street. We want people to know what to do, who to call, and how our specialized street response teams work together to meet the needs of the person in crisis,” officials with the Department of Emergency Management wrote.

Call 911 for police, fire, and other emergencies, including:

  • Crime
  • Fire
  • Drug Overdose
  • Medical emergency
  • Mental health crises

Calling 911 puts you in contact with a dispatcher who will send the “most appropriate response team” for each situation, the Department of Emergency Management wrote.

911 dispatchers will likely ask you: Where is the emergency? What is happening? Who is involved? Is anyone hurt?

San Francisco’s street response teams are designed to reduce the need for police during a mental health crisis or drug use crises, city officials said.

Call 311 for city services and non-emergencies, including:

  • Support for homeless people
  • Mobility and sidewalk access issues
  • Encampments
  • Street or sidewalk cleaning
  • Trash debris pickup
  • Illegal parking and abandoned vehicles
  • Syringes and hazardous waste
  • Graffiti and vandalism

You can request services, ask questions, and get information. 311 operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

The 311 call-taker will assess the situation and may issue a service request, provide information, or direct the caller to the right place.

To learn more about the city’s street response teams, 911, and 311, you can go to www.sf.gov/oktocall

ORACLE PARK SOUND NOTIFICATION

BLACKPINK

Tuesday, August 22nd

Dear Residents and Business Owners,

There will be a concert, BLACKPINK, at Oracle Park next Tuesday, August 22nd, from 6:30 PM – 11:00 PM.  We hope the following information will help better prepare you for the event.

We have worked closely with the San Francisco Entertainment Commission to put a plan in place that will mitigate the sound impact in the neighborhoods surrounding the ballpark. A sound hotline will be set up next Tuesday to field calls. The sound hotline number is 415-972-1771.

Our staff maintaining the sound hotline will be in direct contact with the team monitoring the sound levels of the concert. This enables us to monitor the situation in real time, address any issues, and collect valuable data so we can continue to improve the acoustical plans for future shows.

Sound Schedule:

PHILZ COFFEE CLOSING ORIGINAL LOCATION AFTER 20 YEARS IN S.F.

The original location of popular cafe chain Philz Coffee in San Francisco’s Mission District will soon close after 20 years in business.

Its last day will be Oct. 16, according to a company representative as its lease is ending and the company is not renewing it. Workers at the store on the corner of 24th and Folsom will receive job offers at other local Philz locations; there are now 12 others in San Francisco.

“Though the physical space may close its doors, the Mission will always hold a special place in our hearts as our first home, where Philz Coffee was born and nurtured,” read a company statement to the Chronicle.

Philz is best known for serving pour-over coffees “one cup at a time,” and infused coffee drinks like its iced mint mojito coffee, with mint flavor, a heavy hit of cream and garnished with a sprig of fresh mint. Other drinks like hot chocolate and tea are also available, along with bottles of cold brew coffee. The chain got its start at the location on 24th and Folsom streets in 2003, when company founder Phil Jaber turned his corner grocery store into a cafe.

The Mission District location maintained a distinct, more neighborly feel from the chain’s now standardized locations across the country. Its old white sign — featuring a different Philz wordmark from the one on most other locations — hangs over the corner, and inside, customers lounge at mismatched tables and sofas.

While the original Philz stayed the same, the popular chain has grown considerably. It now boasts more than 60 U.S. locations, the large majority of these in California. Philz retail coffee beans, roasted at the company’s Oakland plant, can be found in supermarkets and other retailers. Jaber’s son Jacob, who helped co-found the shop, is the current company CEO.
