Join the California Black Agriculture Working Group for a special day honoring the establishment of the Buffalo Soldiers in 1866 after the Union victory during the US Civil War. Union Square has a very long and esteemed history.
Few know their historical legacy of early California Pioneers of African Descent in the early days of the “Streets of San Francisco.” The First AME Zion Church utilized the blessing from Rev. Thomas Starr King to help galvanize the early interfaith based community throughout the Great State of California.
High above the Dewey Statue is the Greek Goddess Nike with an ancient message for the world.
Discover their unique journey of the Buffalo Soldiers who were garrisoned at the San Francisco Presidio and served as the Mounted Honor Guard for President Teddy Roosevelt through the “Streets of San Francisco” to dedicate the Dewey Statue.
2022 National Buffalo Soldiers Day builds on an amazing journey.
Register for the Free Community Tour at Union Square and join them later at the historic Westin St. Francis Hotel for a special Dinner Program and listening session for their California Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Project
