Sparklers up! Local Fourth of July festivities are back on this year, including San Francisco’s official fireworks display beginning at 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 4. Get up early and enjoy hometown parades, live music in the park, festivals and other community events before the main nighttime event. 

You could also sleep in but get up in time to stake out a spot for your picnic blanket around Fisherman’s Wharf, the Ferry Building or the Marina in the city, or other viewing spots around the Bay Area, to sit and watch one of the many pyrotechnic displays scheduled as part of the evening’s festivities.

Fireworks are best viewed from the Hyde Street Harbor and Fisherman’s Wharf area. Other public areas to watch from include PIER 39 and the Pier 43 walkway.
